Overview:

In the heart of Stroudsburg, PA, a new home was born from the vision of a family eager to create a space that would accommodate their active lifestyle. Situated in an established neighborhood, this semi-custom home was designed to blend modern convenience with classic charm, offering both function and style. The goal was to craft a home where family time, entertaining guests, and keeping life organized were all seamlessly integrated. With an open-concept layout and a focus on thoughtful design elements, this home would become the perfect setting for their everyday living and long-term memories.

The Client's Vision:

From the beginning, the clients knew they needed a home that would adapt to their family’s dynamic needs. They envisioned a space that felt both open and inviting, with ample room for hosting family and friends. The kitchen, in particular, was to be the heart of the home—where everyone could gather, cook, and entertain comfortably.

Their vision was clear: they wanted a space that would blend traditional charm with modern design, offering both beauty and practicality. The home needed to be spacious yet cozy, and seamlessly integrated into the surroundings, creating an environment that felt both timeless and fresh. But functionality was just as important as aesthetics. The family wanted their home to reflect their personal style while also fitting harmoniously into the established neighborhood.

The Design:

The design of the home is a perfect marriage of modern functionality and traditional craftsmanship. The open-concept layout is the star of the show, creating a smooth flow between the living room, dining area, and spacious kitchen. This open space not only facilitates family gatherings but also enhances the home’s welcoming atmosphere.

The kitchen, which was central to the client’s vision, is expansive, with plenty of counter space, custom cabinetry, and storage solutions. The goal was to create a kitchen that could host large gatherings, making it easy for the family to entertain while also serving as a functional space for day-to-day cooking and meal prep. The layout was designed with this in mind, ensuring the space felt both beautiful and practical.

Throughout the home, the design incorporates wood accents and custom finishes that bring warmth and texture. The craftsman-style trim adds a timeless detail, contributing to the home’s overall charm. Eye-catching light fixtures, carefully chosen for both their form and function, provide a touch of elegance while complementing the home’s modern yet traditional aesthetic.

Outside, the home’s exterior was designed to blend into the neighborhood while standing out in all the right ways. The balance of traditional and modern elements, from the materials to the color palette, gives the house a sophisticated yet approachable feel.

Design Challenges and Solutions:

There were a few design challenges that the team had to navigate during the process. One of the most significant was ensuring that the modern features of the home would integrate smoothly with the existing neighborhood’s aesthetic. The design needed to stand out but also blend in, maintaining the charm of the surrounding homes while offering something new and fresh.

The clients’ desire for a large, open kitchen with ample storage posed its own challenges, particularly with maintaining a sense of flow and avoiding clutter in the space. The design team worked carefully to ensure that every element in the kitchen served both a functional and aesthetic purpose, maximizing storage while maintaining a visually open feel.

Additionally, balancing the openness of the living areas with the need for privacy in different parts of the home required thoughtful planning. The team made sure that the open layout still allowed for intimate spaces, like the home office and bedrooms, where the family could retreat and unwind.

FLOOR PLANS

The Building Process:

The journey to making this dream home a reality took about seven months, with construction progressing smoothly for the most part. The team worked closely with the clients to ensure that the design matched their expectations, from the layout to the finishes. There were a few adjustments along the way, particularly when it came to custom finishes, as the clients had high standards for both materials and craftsmanship. This required extra time for sourcing certain trim and lighting fixtures, but the team was committed to delivering on the client’s vision without compromising quality.

One of the more challenging aspects of the build was addressing the land’s grading to ensure proper drainage around the home. The team worked diligently to design a solution that would redirect water away from the property, ensuring the home would be safe from potential water damage. Even when dealing with delays from custom orders, the team maintained close communication with the clients to make sure their vision remained intact.

Building Solutions and Problem Solving:

To solve the grading issue, the construction team worked with engineers to design a drainage system that redirected water away from the home, ensuring the property was safe and protected. For the custom finishes, the team partnered with trusted suppliers and manufacturers to expedite the shipping of materials, all while maintaining the high quality the clients expected. Regular updates and communication helped keep the project on track, and any potential issues were addressed promptly.

The team also worked tirelessly behind the scenes to craft custom wood accents, cabinetry, and lighting features that added a personal touch to the home. These unique details ensured the home felt truly one-of-a-kind, matching the family’s personal style while maintaining a cohesive design throughout.

The craftsmanship throughout the house, from the custom wood trim to the elegant light fixtures, gave the home a unique, personal feel.
